VT 1D
The first engine...

From the idea to the finished engine: When I was creating my new small diesel engine, I often thought about taking a few photos this time:

The finished castings for engine housing with front part,
cylinder head and rear cover in raw condition...

The crankcase being machined...

The hole for the later mounting of the sleeve...

The ribbing of the cylinder is taking shape...

Engine housing and cylinder head ready for further finishing work;
holes for valves and bolting are already finished on the cylinder head...

The rocker arm bracket for later mounting the rocker arms can be seen on the head.
On the side you can see the flanges for the carburettor and exhaust pipe arranged at a 120° angle.

The housing parts fit, the bearing block for the rocker arms is milled and the exhaust pipe is adapted!
The two small gears are for the camshaft drive...

This is not a large fireplace match, but the normal, small version...

Unfortunately, the gears for the cam drive are not commercially available in this size as finished parts...

The parts of the crank and cam drive can only be machined with clamping devices...

The crankshaft being machined...

Everything that turns and moves in the engine:
Crankshaft, camshaft with drive, connecting rod, piston with pin.
Also on display:
Finished drilled cover of the timing case...

The front, prepared housing section with the inner workings of the eccentric
eccentric device for compression adjustment and the adjustment lever

Valves with guides and springs...

The main engine parts:
The hardened liner is already shrink-fitted and the rocker arms are also ready...

The first VT 1D is waiting for a propeller and a small tank of diesel fuel ...

...... A lighter is quite big!

...a lighter like this is actually quite big!
