Modellmaschinenbau
Armin de Vries

I have been designing and building model engines and machines of all kinds for years. It started as a private hobby with four-stroke stationary engines and a few "flame-eaters".
This work never let me go; I finally became self-employed and founded the company Modellmaschinenbau Armin de Vries in April 1995.
The "Simplex" four-stroke stationary engine was the first that I was able to offer as a finished system and as a set of cast parts.
Numerous model engines followed over the next few years. I still build one-offs and prototypes for technical museums and engine enthusiasts.

As an active model aeroplane pilot, I then began to build the model engines for my models myself. My new V-engine finally aroused interest in modelling circles - and so in 2002 I decided to build and offer the V42 in small series.
Almost all engine parts are manufactured by me on CNC and conventional turning, milling and grinding machines; I produce cast parts using various methods. The carburettor and ignition equipment is made using parts supplied by well-known manufacturers.
For me, the development of my model engines does not end with the printout of the CAD programme: the prototypes of all the engines on offer have been extensively tested in everyday flying and have received their final "fine-tuning" here before they finally go into series production.
I have deliberately refrained from specifying horsepower or kW in the performance data, as the speed achieved with a particular propeller size is more meaningful.
